Lemon buttercream icing

I hope you enjoy my homemade lemon buttercream icing! Perfect for icing macarons, or for some bright and cheery (and yellow) cupcakes!


                              First you will need to get all your ingredients together. 

                                 
  
                                                                 Now put the butter, shortening, and milk in a large bowl.

                                 
                                                      
                                                                                                              Mix on high speed until creamy.

 

                                                         
                                                    
                                                                                                          Next pour in the powdered sugar. 

 

                                                                                                              Mix on high speed until creamy.

                                             
                                                                                                 Add the food coloring and lemon juice. 

                                        
                 
 Even though it is not spring anymore, or even summer, I thought that y'all would enjoy having this recipe on hand anyway. I was going to wait for spring to publish this recipe But a good friend of mine inspired me to do it anyway!! 

           

             

           

                                  
            Lemon Buttercream Icing:

        Ingredients:

                 1/2 cup butter, softened

                 1/3 cup shortening 

                 2 tsp milk

                 2 cups powdered sugar

                 2 1/2 tsp lemon juice

                 yellow food coloring

                                                                                           

                                                                            Directions:

       In a large mixing bowl cream together the butter, shortening, and milk until smooth and creamy. Mix in powdered sugar a little at a time until all is incorporated. Add food coloring and lemon juice. mix for another 30 seconds until the icing is light and creamy.
